If an Archer 2 is stuck during the boot process, one possible cause is removing the battery while the unit is still running. Removing the battery while the unit is running could lead to internal storage memory corruption. Rather than initially removing the battery (even if the unit is frozen), it is safer to instead perform a Hard Reset (by holding the Power button for a full count of 20 seconds) or full Power Off (not just Suspend) first.
When a unit is stuck during boot, some possible solutions are as follows.
- Perform a Hard Reset - Hold the Power button for a full count of 20 seconds.
- Perform an Extended Power Removal - Pull the battery and wall charger for a few minutes.
- Perform a Clean Boot - Hold the Power button for 15-20 seconds until the blue screen appears, move the “Set Factory Defaults” slider, and then tap Exit. This will remove all installed programs and data on the internal flash storage memory hard drive. The In-Port software will now need reloading.
- Reload the Operating System - Use the Link to download the OS and Instructions. OS & Instructions. The In-Port software will now need reloading.
If none of the above works, the unit will need to be returned for repair. Please contact servicing@soilinstruments.com for an RMA number.
